The Accelerated Approach

The Accelerated Approach to operations improvement is a four-tiered methodology designed to help you transform your process by fact-gathering from knowledge workers and management; visualization of the process; transformation of the vital few components; and implementation of recommendations to transform the organization.

Here's how it works:

Step 1:  Fact-gathering

• Gather process data using activity-based costing
• Identify activities, costs, rework, delays, and other information about the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing operations

Step 2:  Visualization

• Develop a process model
• Determine process costs and measure the performance
• Determine a realistic improvement target
• Compare to best-in-class with best practices analysis

Step 3:  Transformation

• Incorporate best practices results into other process information
• Identify 8-12 recommendations for improvement
• Develop detailed action plan to achieve target
• Understand how systems can enable process

Step 4:  Implementation

• Identify resources to implement the redesign/design plan
• Plan and manage the project
• Measure the results
